Custom e-commerce. No Shopify tax.

Shopify, BigCommerce and Wix eCommerce are fine for someone. But if your products don't fit their assumptions — bundles, made-to-order, trade pricing, subscription boxes, multi-currency — you spend more time fighting the platform than selling. A bespoke store built on Laravel fits how you actually sell, keeps the transaction fees, and doesn't lock you in.

What a proper custom shop includes.

No compromises on the bits that matter, because there's no template telling us what's easy and what isn't.

Stripe, done properly

Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, Stripe Tax for UK/EU VAT handling. Wired directly into the site — no hosted checkout jumping you off-brand.

Real stock management

Variants, low-stock alerts, back-in-stock emails. Out-of-stock means "hide the buy button", not "let them check out and surprise them later".

Shipping & zones

UK zones, next-day surcharges, free over £X, click & collect, weight-banded pricing. Configured to match how you actually ship, not what Shopify allows.

Bundles & made-to-order

Products that build from components. Pick-your-own bundles. Per-order customisation. All the scenarios that start with "well, normally you'd need a plugin for that..."

Subscriptions & boxes

Monthly, quarterly, curated. Cancel/pause/skip flows. Dunning. Without paying 1-3% in extra fees to Recharge or a similar SaaS.

Trade pricing & accounts

Hidden trade prices, minimum order quantities, customer-group VAT rules. The retail/trade hybrid shop is exactly where bespoke wins.

The quiet cost of renting a shop.

A Shopify Advanced plan is around £300/month plus transaction fees, plus plugin subscriptions for everything that isn't core. £500+/month is normal by the time you're actually selling. Over five years, that's north of £30,000 — more than a bespoke store costs to build outright.

And at the end of those five years, you don't own it. Your customer database is in their warehouse. If they change terms, you move or pay.

E-commerce questions.

Is bespoke e-commerce really cheaper than Shopify long-term?

Almost always, if your GMV is moderate-to-high. Most bespoke stores break even against Shopify Advanced inside 2-3 years — and from that point on, you're keeping thousands a year that were going to a US tech giant.

Can you migrate my existing Shopify / WooCommerce store?

Yes. Products, customers, order history, URLs, SEO redirects. I've done it several times. Launch day is a weekend — you go to bed on Shopify and wake up on your own store, same URLs.

What about PCI compliance and security?

Card data goes directly to Stripe, never touches your server. That keeps PCI compliance at SAQ-A (the simplest tier). I also handle HSTS, CSP, rate-limiting and two-factor for the admin by default.

Do you integrate with accounting / fulfilment / EPOS systems?

Yes — Xero, QuickBooks, ShipStation, Royal Mail Click & Drop, Lightspeed and plenty of others. If it has an API, it can talk to your store.
